Getting on the Mountain Under $100

By Kerry Phillips
Utah Ski Corner

Skiing is not known as the least expensive sport on record, but there are some ways to save money and hit the slopes for under $100 with a lift ticket and rentals… we can even get one parent and a child on rentals, with lift tickets for under $100.

Several resorts offer Discount Lift Tickets through Ski ‘N See that fit in this scenario: Adult Discount Lift Ticket + Preferred or Demo Ski/Board Rental = $86 to $98 total, for the ticket/rental combo. Resorts that fit in this combo include: Alta, Brighton, Snowbasin, Snowbird, and Solitude.

Note that with “Utah’s Largest Selection of Rentals”, Ski ‘N See also carries three levels of ski gear below the two included in the combo example. This is also our rack rate for rentals, so with this month’s newsletter discount, you can save an additional 25% Off your rentals!

A child can also go along with a parent, with rentals for both under $100 along with special resort kids’ deals. These options include Adult Discount Lift Ticket + Adult Rental + Child Resort Deal + Jr Rental:

  • Alta “After 3pm”: Adult Demo and Jr Performance = $48.80
  • Brighton Adult Primary with 7- under child = $88.80
  • Snowbird Chair Adult Primary with 6- under child = $95.80
  • Solitude Adult Primary with 6- under child = $93.80
  • Snowbasin Adult Primary with 6- under child = $96.80

Ski Utah also has some amazing options for 5th and 6th graders. Ski Utah passports allow kids to ski at every resort in Utah for a small processing fee of just $25.

  • 5th Grade Passport = 3 lift tickets to every resort in Utah
  • 6th Grade Passport = 1 lift ticket to every resort in Utah

To help save even more, consider buying used Demo skis or a snowboard at the end of the ski season. They are usually treated well and are still up to date in technology and graphics. For kids, season rentals are a great way to go so you’re not paying for new gear every year as they grow and you can keep them until next April! Most shops offer season rentals in October, so if you wait until it snows to think about skiing you could miss out. Prices range from $79 to $129 for junior to adult sizes. Ski ‘N See also offers free maintenance – wax and tune – all season on season rentals.
