About North Haven Ski Club

The North Haven Ski Club was instituted in 1970 starting with a small group of skiers from Pratt Whitney. It then evolved as the North Haven Ski Club with weekly bus trips to ski areas in Massachuetts, Vermont and New Hampshire.

The club has always encouraged young people to join and participate in its activities, and to this day is still known as a "Family" club. In the height of the baby boomer years we had as many as three buses going on a given day. Members range from ages 3 to 80+. Members are also from all over Connecticut from Old Saybrook, Milford, Woodbridge, Northford, Wethersfield, Madison, Hamden, Wallingford and many other towns besides North Haven. We also have members for all over New England and New York. that join our club to receive the great discounts.

The club joined Monday night racing at Mt. Southington and we hope to increase the number of racers this coming season. While mostly a winter activity club, the club has one summer acticity, usually whitewater rafting at Zoar Outdoor. Programs are usually informative meetings about ski care, fitness and presentations from members' trips to foreign countries. Sign ups are held every Wednesday starting the beginning of January and continue till the end of March. This years open house is scheduled for Wednesday, September 29, 2010, October 6, 2010 for Bulk Ticket orders at the Knights of Columbus, 22 Church Street, North Haven from 7pm-9pm (across from the North Haven Green) this is the only opportunity to purchase bulk tickets and November 10th 2010 for those members who do not want the Bulk Tickets from 7pm -9pm with raffles and prizes and camaraderie. The bulk ticket program is when you can purchase pre-season tickets at a variety of mountains in Vermont at a great discounted price. There are no black out dates and can be used at anytime. We schedule Sunday bus trips to Vermont starting in January and ending in late March. Our buses leave the Stop & Shop parking lot in North Haven at 6:00 am sharp. If arranged, we stop off of Exit 21 in Cromwell at the commuter parking lot and pick up our shoreline or Hartford area people at approx 6:20 am and continue to our destination. We leave the mountain at 4:30 pm sharp and proceed home with a stop at the Country Deli off Exit 2 in Vermont. We ride on coach buses and play a family video for the trip home with a stop in Cromwell to drop off that group and usually arrive back at Stop & Shop about 8 - 8:30 pm, depending on weather and traffic.
