About this Club
The Knoxville Ski & Outing Club (KSOC) is a non-profit organization and is registered as a corporate entity in the State of Tennessee. KSOC enjoys offering many outdoor activities and social events in addition to ski sports in order to provide a total social environment for its members. Some of the regular programs include year-round hiking, camping, cycling, white-water rafting, horse racing, cook-outs, bareboat sailing in the Bahamas and BVIs, happy hours, winery and jazz tours, beach trips, and lake parties. Members are encouraged to bring ideas for activities with many of the members being non-skiers. Some of the non-skiers become interested in skiing and other snow sports.

Members can join at different dues rates for families, couples w/o children, single parents, singles, students, and associates (over 100 miles from Knoxville).

KSOC is operated by a Board of Directors, which includes 5 elected officers (President, Internal VP, External VP, Treasurer, and Secretary), plus standing committee chairs (Distant Trips, Multi-Day Trips, SIngle Day Trips, Non-Ski Outings, Racing, Ski School, Events & Programs, Membership, Publicity, Web Master, Publications, Historian, Social, and Crescent Council Representative). The Fall-Line Newsletter is published monthly and details the upcoming events for the month, a calendar of future events, and articles from members regarding trips taken and other topics). The Fall-Line is issued through both U.S. hard-copy and e-mail.

KSOC has recently appointed a Youth Director to encourage more families with children to participate in the club in order to grow new members and plan for the future. Several kids events, including day skiing, have been successful already. With many of the members being baby-boomers, it is imperative for KSOC to foster various types of programs to interest all age groups.

Our bi-weekly Happy Hours offer the opportunity to try out the new restaurants in Knoxville (of which there seems to be new ones all the time), plus revisit the old favorites. This is a very popular activity and well-attended. It's become a regular way of unwinding from the week, meet new people, catch up with friends, and build relationships. Our yearly Christmas Party lets everyone dress up in their finest and dance the night away. The club also hosts or co-hosts the Warren Miller and Teton Gravity Research films each year.

Monthly General Meetings occur from August through April and feature guest speakers on a variety of subjects - such as health & fitness, new ski and snow sport equipment, wine tasting, and hiking tours in South America, just to name a few. If you live around the Knoxville area, check us out - KSOC will be glad to have you come aboard.
