About Norway Ski Club Of New York, Inc.

We are a family-style club with some single members. Our members are all ages, but most range from 25-65. We have a nice rustic lodge in Shandaken, NY and most of our activities take place in or near our lodge. Downhill skiing is the favorite sport of most of our members, but we have snowboarders and cross country skiers as well. The lodge is used year-round and members are able to bring guests who pay a somewhat higher rate for lodging.

A wide range of occupations and interests are represented among our membership and we are a congenial group. The main thing that we have in common is our love of sports and the outdoors.

In order to become a provisional member, one must have a sponsor who is a current club member** and must also pay the yearly dues.

*Two work weekends are planned per year to keep up with the jobs necessary to maintain the lodge in satisfactory condition.

**A person who is not familiar with anyone in the club would need to attend functions and seek a sponsor.

Trips & Events

Events are held, usually at our lodge in the Catskills, year-round with emphasis during the ski season. There is an adult ski jamboree weekend when adults engage in a friendly race on Saturday and socialize in the evening at a dinner party. A junior jamboree ski weekend provides youngsters with the opportunity to experience ski racing and celebrate with their friends apri ski. Other popular events include a holiday party in December, usually in the metropolitan area and a clambake weekend at the lodge in September. Members run weekends on occasion and come up with interesting themes and meals for everyone to enjoy. Ski trips have been taken over the past few years to European countries including Austria, Italy and France and in the United States primarily to Colorado. Club members enjoy many activities such as bike riding, hiking, hunting, fishing and golf, to name a few, in the Catskill Mountains.
