About this Club

The Winnipeg Alpine Racers runs two primary programs. Our 1st program is the nationally recognized Nancy Greene Program which teaches the FUNdamentals of skiing and racing. A season with our club provides over 60 hours of quality instruction from certified friendly coaches!

Races are held at Springhill, Minnedosa, Asessippi, La Riviere, (Optional to attend)

Training once or twice weekly

Saturdays: 9:00 AM-12:00 Noon
Programs run from mid December to mid March

Our 2nd program is the Manitoba Alpine Ski Series (M.A.S.S.)
Ages 11+ - K1, K2, J1 & J2
Slalom, Giant Slalom and Super G

Winnipeg Alpine Racers have been the top MASS club in the province for many years running. Besides being the top club overall, in the 2004 race season we swept 1st place in both male and female in Kinder and Junior. A great accomplishment!

We get these results by a strong commitment to dryland training and training camps in which a focus is put on slalom and giant slalom techniques. Our coaches’ emphasis is on skill, tactics, equipment preparation and competition.

Our program is designed to provide an opportunity for advancement to skiers, progressing from the Nancy Greene program to the MASS program with possible advancement onto the Manitoba Alpine Ski Team. In fact, many of the Manitoba Alpine Ski Team athletes have come up through our club. This is due to our coaches, the commitment of our racers and their parents and the organization of the club through which they get their training.

Participating in the races is a lot of fun for many kids and for others a very serious undertaking. Our club strives to prepare our racers in the very best possible way for racing here in the province and provide them with the primary skills to race in venues beyond this.

The race events are sanctioned by Alpine Canada and require a competitors license. Accurate times are kept for each race that allows each racer to monitor their own improvement and progress in the sport. Five race weekends are scheduled over the winter season.
