About Mount Hutt
A laidback and genuine Kiwi atmosphere defines this “mountain in the sky”, the ever popular Mt Hutt. Views at the top of its 683m vertical drop – one of the highest in the South Island – will take your breath away. Overlooking the patchwork Canterbury plains that stretch out lazily to the Pacific Ocean in one direction and the jagged, pristine peaks of the Southern Alps to the other – it’s a memorable vantage point.
At 2086m above sea level, Canterbury’s Mt. Hutt is located high in the Southern Alps and receives some of the lightest and driest powder in Australasia. It typically has one of the longest ski seasons in the Southern Hemisphere lasting from early June to late October. Mt Hutt Ski Area is located at the foot of The Southern Alps, just 90 minutes across the picturesque Canterbury plains from Christchurch City and its international airport. |
