About Wachusett Mountain
With 22 trails cascading down from the 2,006 foot summit, Wachusett combines a big mountain resort atmosphere with a convenient close-to- home ski area. With 100% snowmaking and night skiing daily until 10 p.m., Wachusett is near Worcester, Boston and Providence so it’s convenient for skiers and snowboarders from throughout southern New England. Wachusett features 8 lifts – including 2 high speed quad chairlifts and a triple chair – and a spectacular base lodge with private Mountain Suites.
Wachusett has been making its mark among skiing families since the early seventies when Ralph Crowley, a Worcester native and owner of the Polar Beverage Co., leased the land from the Massachusetts Environmental Management Division. Trails had been cut on the hill in the thirties by the Civilian Conservation Corps. Ralph’s children – Jeff, David and Carolyn – run the place these days.
