Host of the 1980 Olympic Ski events; site of 2000 Winter Goodwill Games; site of annual World Cup events in freestyle skiing and / or snowboarding. Greatest vertical drop east of the Rockies. Whiteface opened new terrain - Lookout Mt - in Dec 2008 with triple chair, 2 trails, snowmaking and some added glades. Lake Placid has been the top destination for off-hill activities 16 consecutive years, according to the readers of SKI Magazine.

Always a Pleasure

Ski conditions are good. But bundle up for Whiteface and bring the toe and hand warmers because unless it is in the 40's it will be cold. Plenty of places to eat, drink and be merry. It is great for families and singles!...More

Went up to Whiteface Saturday 1-11-13. The mountain looked to be fully open. Lots of hard packed powder but, also some trails were very icy depending on which side of the mountain you were on. Received word that the Slides...More
