About Squaw Valley

Host of the 1960 Winter Olympics, Squaw Valley is home to world-famous terrain that spans 3,600 skiable acres and six peaks. From the expansive mountaintop beginner area to unrivaled expert steeps, trees and bowls, the resort offers terrain for all abilities.

Off the slopes, guests can take a spin on the open-air ice rink overlooking Lake Tahoe, spend an afternoon snowtubing, or soak up the sun at the mountaintop swimming pool and hot tub, open in the spring. In the base village, families can relax around the cozy fire pits or stroll the streets browsing specialty wine shops and fine art galleries. Dining options include gourmet pizza, Mexican cuisine, sushi, and traditional fare. Squaw Valley recently joined forces with neighboring Alpine Meadows, bringing the two ski resorts under common ownership. Skiers and riders can now access 6,000 skiable acres, 43 lifts and 270+ trails at Squaw and Alpine Meadows on the Tahoe Super Pass or any lift ticket.

What's New This Season at Squaw Valley

Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows are investing nearly $8 million in capital improvements for the 2013-14 winter season. The improvements are part of year three of the resorts’ five-year, $70 million Renaissance designed to improve all facets of the resort experience.

The investment for the first two years of the renaissance totaled $38 million and brought new chairlifts, expanded kids’ activities, new restaurants, redesigned terrain parks, and the world’s first ski-in/ski-out Starbucks to the resorts. The improvements continue this winter with a new yoga studio, $1.2 million in lodging improvements, electric car chargers, food trucks and a mid-mountain beer garden.
