|Patagonia grew out of a small company that made tools for climbers. Alpinism remains at the heart of a worldwide business that still makes clothes for climbing – as well as for skiing, snowboarding, surfing, fly fishing, paddling and trail running. These are all silent sports. None requires a motor; none delivers the cheers of a crowd. In each sport, reward comes in the form of hard-won grace and moments of connection between us and nature.

New Gear From Patagonia This Season
|The successful launch of the Patagonia's new Performance Base Layer line in 2006, which included Capilene Base Layers, made with at least 50% recycled content, and chlorine-free merino Wool Base Layers, continues to inspire the integration of recycled/recyclable content into the rest of the company's line. Without a doubt, Patagonia is pushing the envelope in the development of recycled/recyclable products, while improving on the company's already stellar reputation for quality.
The newest products with recycled content include:

Patagonia - Their Specialties
|Patagonia is noted internationally for its commitment to product quality and environmental activism. Its Environmental Grants Program has contributed over $29M in cash and in-kind services to grassroots environmental activists since the program began in 1985. Incorporating environmental responsibility in to product development, the company has, since 1996, used only organically-grown cotton in its clothing line, and its most recent launch of synthetic fiber-to-fiber recycling – taking back its worn-out clothing and reincarnating it as new products, forever capturing the petroleum used in making virgin fiber. Known for a unique corporate culture, the company has been recognized for many years by Working Mother magazine as one of the “100 Best Companies for Working Mothers,” and is a regular recipient of recognition by Fortune and Human Resources Management magazine as one of the “100 Best Companies to Work for in America. ”
|Patagonia's Fall 2007 environmental campaign is focused on protecting the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Our goal is to help permanently protect the 1.5 million acre Coastal Plain of the Refuge by designating it Wilderness.
Located in the northeastern corner of Alaska, the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is an unparalleled landscape of rugged mountains, thick forests, wild rivers and vast tundra vistas.
