Host of the 1980 Olympic Ski events; site of 2000 Winter Goodwill Games; site of annual World Cup events in freestyle skiing and / or snowboarding. Greatest vertical drop east of the Rockies. Whiteface opened new terrain - Lookout Mt - in Dec 2008 with triple chair, 2 trails, snowmaking and some added glades. Lake Placid has been the top destination for off-hill activities 16 consecutive years, according to the readers of SKI Magazine.

What's New This Season at Whiteface Mountain
Whiteface opened Lookout Mountain last season located between the Slides and Kids Kampus. Lookout Mountain features the Lookout Mountain Triple Chair, Intermediate trail "The Wilmington Trail" a 2.1 mile cruiser and two expert trails "Hoyt's High" and "Lookout Below" a narrow steep bump trail for thrill seekers. This season at lokout Mountain a new glade area is expected to open The Sugar Valley Glades a 25 acre expert area off of the Wilmington Trail.
