The holidays are among us and keeping us all busy. I know it has been a while since I last wrote, but below is a little update on how the season has been going.

We currently have a 35 inch base and have received a total of 53 inches for the season.

Santa Claus visited Sunlight on Dec. 19th and handed out presents to the kids as well as lead the annual holiday parade down Midway. That same weekend we did ski and snowboard demos. Many people tried out some new things and prepared for the upcoming season.

The holidays resulted in some new snow, new people and new smiles. We are getting ready for one of the most fun days of the year which is the LaFarge Skier Appreciation Day. Lift tickets are only $15 and all proceeds go to United Way. We are also doing free lessons for first-timers and it is Superhero Day! You can find more information on our website at http://www.sunlightmtn.com/ or give us a call. 970-945-7491

We always look forward to seeing you up here so bring the fam!

Over a Foot of Snow at the Base!

It started snowing around 11:00 am yesterday and by 4:00 pm today, we have received over a foot of snow! And it's still snowing! As an estimate at the top, there is approximately between 14 and 16 inches!

This is going to be a great winter! Keep your fingers crosses that it keeps this up and maybe Sunlight will open early this year.

Chance of Snow

The weather has been way too nice up here the last few days. It is definitely time for it to start cooling down, but the weather pattern for this upcoming week isn't looking too convincing. We are looking at a 70% chance of snow and rain tomorrow afternoon, but with warm temperatures, so if it does snow, it isn't going to last long. There is a 20% chance of snow on Wednesday with a little cooler temperatures, but the rest of the week -- not much precipitation and temperatures look to fluctuate between 30 and 50 degrees. If you are interested in knowing the weather forecast on a more regular basis for Sunlight, you are welcome to visit the 7-Day forecast from the National Weather Service.

Don't forget about the new Teton Gravity Research "Re:SESSION" film Sunlight is hosting on December, 3rd at the Hotel Colorado. You can get your tickets at the Sunlight Ski & Bike Shop at 309 9th St., Glenwood Springs, CO 81601 Phone 945-9425 for $15, $10 for 12 & under.

The Snow is Coming!

It was our second showing of snow for the 09/10 season -- October 9th, Sunlight received a little more than a dusting. Leaves on the Aspen trees were still hangin' on and changin' colors, but now they are just about gone. A little more snow and it will really look like winter up here.

When we saw the snow, we all felt some baby butterflies, but didn't want to get too excited because we aren't quite ready to break out the equipment. You'll get the updates and all of the down low on our snow status and upcoming events... just stay tuned.

Our planned opening day is December, 4th but we are snow dancin' for Thanksgiving. Sunlight will be hosting the new Teton Gravity Research "Re:SESSION" film on December, 3rd at the Hotel Colorado. You can get your tickets at the Sunlight Ski & Bike Shop at 309 9th St., Glenwood Springs, CO 81601 Phone 945-9425 for $15, $10 for 12 & under.
