2" 60" Packed Powder  reported: 01/27/2014 at 4:26 AM EST by Anonymous

Groomed, Uncrowded, Calm, Flat Light

Another fun day skiing at Sundown. Though there was a race happening on Gunbarrel until about 1pm, the rest of the mountain was relatively uncrowded. Packed powder conditions right across the mountain, with plenty of carveable snow to enjoy, even late in the day. Some nice "whales" of snow under the snow gun locations on Lower Canyon Run made for some fun laps. The fresh 1-2 inches of snow that fell throughout the day added to the conditions. Another perfect day at Sundown !

Groomed, Untracked, Uncrowded, Calm, Flat Light

Plenty of snowmaking earlier in the week when the weather was very cold, combined with Friday morning's 1-2 inches of fresh snow, made for great conditions tonight (Friday 1/11/2014). Once the after-school buses had departed, the mountain was uncrowded, and the conditions on Canyon Run, Exhibition and Gunbarrel in particular were great. No icy sounds, just smooth running on the packed powder surface. Well done Sundown !!!

Refrozen, Thin, Thin Spots, Icy Spots

Arrived mid day so trails were packed tight and icy. Crowds were worse in lodge than on trails but lines moved quickly for most of the day. I was somewhat disappointed that the conditions weren't better than they were with all the snow we got the weekend before. They groomed the slopes at about 6 pm and conditions improved significantly. Its shame they don't groom more frequently.

Groomed, Deep, Uncrowded, Calm, Sunny

Conditions were excellent on Saturday. Snowmaking worked overtime during the previous week and delivered deep bases across the entire mountain. Groomers had the whole mountain covered in fresh corduroy. Plenty of features in the two terrain park areas on Tom's Treat and Stinger to keep the terrain park gurus happy. Great snow for carving, slopes were uncrowded, and the sunshine made it a wonderful bluebird day.

Groomed, Thin Spots, Uncrowded, Calm

Great day on the mountain - the first day of the New Year 2013! Enjoyed being with my friends and love being able to buy a Flex Ticket. I can use for any 8 hours since we got off to a late start.
