Groomed, Skied Off, Refrozen, Icy Spots

My third weekend at SR over past 3 years, each time essentially the same: groomed runs are fine, but natural areas really icy and/or closed. One day I will ski Oz under good conditions! why dont they make snow on those runs; they have the guns??

Groomed, Tracked, Skied Off, Icy Spots, Uncrowded, Calm, Sunny

Skied Monday feb 24th. Very few people there, vacation crowds gone:-) weather was mostly sunny with an occasional snow flurry. The conditions weren't bad considering the rain we recently got. Some areas were skied off with icy areas underneath. More ice than I've seen at the nh mts lately. Kids had fun in the terrain park, although it was hard hard hard and icy.Husband was disappointed that the Asia restaurant wasn't open. For an $87 lift ticket all amenities should be available. Kids had a blast and we hit the sauna, hot tub and pool with our cousins that were staying slopeside at Sunrise condos. Nice ski in ski out location with the kids being just uphill for the Chondola and kids area and terrain park. Brown bagged it, lunch too expensive at mts, $8 chili cheese fries or an $11 Caesar salad?! Give me a break mt resorts, you get enough $ from lift tickets, let's see some food prices decrease a little. This goes for all mts, not just the river:-)

Skied Off, Icy Spots, Uncrowded

Skiied last week up at Sunday River for the week into the weekend. The trails got icier as the week/end went on and snow got skiied off. Trails are nicely goomed except for ice patches... one which I hit and tore my ACL. :(

Groomed, Skied Off, Wind-Packed, Uncrowded, Sunny

Skiied on Fri 2/15 and Sat 2/16. Conditions Friday were perfect, best ski day this year. Snow had a few inches of fresh powder, trails were groomed great, no crowds. Sat was a little busier and some trails got scrapped off by early afternoon, but not overly icy. Sun 2/17 was windy as could be, several lifts closed. We didnt ski but I'm sure it was a rough day for those that did. Great weekend, this week will be great skiing too.

Best conditions of the season. In the morning the conditions were excellent with fresh snow and packed powder conditions As the day went along the conditions did get a little icy in spots. The crowds were awesome even though it was a Saturday we did not wait in line very long.

Groomed, Refrozen, Icy Spots, Uncrowded, Calm, Flat Light, Making Snow

Skied noon to 3:30pm on Thurs, 1/19. Cold temps (high 15F) made for fast, hard packed skiing but ski edges held well. Stayed on Spruce mountain and Locke mountain trails. Very flat light as day progressed, luckily no dramatic surprises on trails. As man made conditions go, pretty good considering there was freezing rain on Tues. night. Lift operators were great.

Groomed, Uncrowded, Making Snow

Skied 3 days, sat-sun-monday 1-14 to 1-16. Great conditions with 1 or 2 new trails added each day. They had the guns on full every day and night. Great grooming, edge to edge coverage. Very few lift lines all day. Oz lift still closed but 1 great trail open accessible from jordan and spruce. Great conditions right till 4 all three days. No woods skiing, most expert trails open in Maine. All terrain parks at South Ridge for night skiing, main park was closed during the day Monday.

Groomed, Icy Spots, Calm

It doesn't get any better than this for man-made conditions. Trials open on 7 of 8 mountains disperses the crowd, no wind and 12 lifts running. They set the bar for cranking out snow and grooming. Terrain for all levels. White Heat open with good coverage...get to it in the mourning before it gets skied off. Quite amazing they can get this much terrain open with no natural snow. Thank a mountain ops crew member when you see them.

Groomed, Uncrowded, Windy, Making Snow

Night skiing Wed Dec 28 at Sunday River was cold, gusty winds, but fantastic. Mostly we skied under the guns, which were producing enough snow to get cut up and be mini moguls until the groomers came along. Disappointed that the gondola closed at 4:10, not sure because of heavy wind or lack of skiers. Limited trails for night skiing, but fantastic conditions on everything that was open
