22" 95" Powder  reported: 02/03/2014 at 7:54 AM EST by Jeff

Groomed, Tracked, Untracked, Deep, Calm, Sunny

This weekend Lost Trail showed us all what is best about winter. After nearly two feet of new snow the second half of last week, the sun came out on Saturday providing an incredible day of skiing! The groomers did an excellent job of grooming the main cruisers, the park the crew did an excellent job maintaining the parks, and the typical powder areas like Moose Creek, Hollywood Bowl, and Sac Jac were all at their finest with deep unending powder! The wind was calm, the temps just about perfect in the upper 20's. However, with all the new snow came lots and lots of skiers with people having the park alongside Highway 93. And with Lost Trail's inadequately sized lodge and food service area, it was better to just stay on the slopes or hit up the yurt for a quick lunch.

Groomed, Tracked, Calm

The Conditions at Lost Trail are fantastic right now! With the deepest base in Montana, every run has great coverage as does Hollywood Bowl. The tree skiing is also great right now and Sac Jack is skiing better than I can ever remember in December - but a couple more feet is needed to really cover up the young little trees and deadfall that is scattered about. Also with these perfect temps the groomers like Southern Comfort and Sacajawea are FAST!

Groomed, Tracked, Deep, Uncrowded, Flat Light

Lost Trail currently has the best December snow conditions I can ever remember skiing on anywhere in at least 10 years! Every run has great snow coverage which is as good or better than mid-February last season. It's been a couple days since the last measurable snow, but there are still some good powder stashes to hit. The groomers like North Bowl and Southern Comfort are skiing fast and smooth.

Groomed, Tracked, Uncrowded, Calm, Sunny

Beautiful bluebird day! And since it was groundhog's day and our local groundhogs saw their shadow, it looks like winter will continue at Lost Trail. The snow today was amazing, the skiing today was amazing, everything about skiing at Lost Trail today was amazing! After 27 inches of snow earlier this week there are still powder stashes to be found and the groomers were fast and furious!

Saturday was a beautiful cool crisp bluebird day. Although the snow is getting hard, the groomers have been fantastic! New snow in the forecast :)
