0" 30" Packed Powder  reported: 03/08/2015 at 5:40 AM EST by Anonymous

Groomed, Crowded, Calm, Sunny

Skied on 2/28 and was very impressed with conditions. Grooming was geat! No ice until much later in the day and then just a few spots. Lines appear very long but move pretty quickly. Forgot how close Gunstock is, such an easy drive.
0" 24" Frozen Granular  reported: 01/22/2015 at 7:08 AM EST by Anonymous

Refrozen, Icy Spots, Uncrowded, Sunny

Lack of snow and recent rains make for very hard and fast skiing. Trails were typical frozen granular, but weekend crowds will turn them into ice rinks.

Groomed, Tracked, Icy Spots, Uncrowded, Calm, Sunny

Beautiful two for one Monday after a couple inches of new snow overnight. Sunny, not too cold and no wind. No waiting Iines. Had some great runs down from top with the kids, although, as my 3 year old mentioned, there were quite a few icy spots, but not enough to complain about. Great start to the week.

Groomed, Tracked, Skied Off, Crowded, Calm, Sunny

Packed powder everywhere. As the day went on some areas became scratchy but it wasn't really bad. Snowing when I got there at 8am, but it cleared off right away and was sunny the rest of the day. I was here from 8am to about 1230 on Sunday Feb 9.

Skiied Sat 1/4 it was ccchhhiilllyyy in the AM but warmed up nice. The snow from last week was still fresh on the trails. Most trails were packed powder, groomed or powder. Very few trails with ice. Great skiing right now!

Groomed, Skied Off, Thin Spots, Calm, Making Snow

Skied Gunstock Saturday Dec 14. Supposed to be one trail open from the top, but that didn't happen while I was there. Got on the mountain at 10am. Temp was 1F. All packed powder, excellent skiing. By noon the steeper and high traffic areas were becoming icy as the powder was being pushed off. Left at 12:30. Temp never got above 8F. Good beginning.

Groomed, Refrozen, Thin Spots, Uncrowded, Sunny

Skied on Sat 12/7 and conditions were good considering the rain on Fri. The snow was frozen granular and softened up as the day progressed. There were really only 3 trails top-bottom but it was fun. Tix price was only $39 for the day too! Happy skiing!

Another day at the Rock when the Panorama quad chair broke down while waiting in the lift line. Mountain was ungroomed with varying crud snow. Too many people due to school vacation.

0" 24" Hard Pack  reported: 02/12/2013 at 8:02 AM EST by Anonymous

Tracked, Refrozen, Bullet-Proof

What is going on with Gunstock this year? Two feet of new snow and the worst conditions ever. Terrain was poorly groomed leaving frozen cement mixer conditions with ruts, grooves and large sink holes. Terrible - don't waste your time. Last year the conditions were much better with less snow. Their groomers do not know what they're doing. On Sunday, which would have been the best ski day of the season, the Panaroma quad chair was out of service leaving two hour lift lines at the other slow chairs.

Tracked, Skied Off, Refrozen, Bullet-Proof, Icy Spots, Sunny, Making Snow

We arrived Sunday expecting Gunstock to be an ice mound. Actually wasn't that bad. Ice in high traffic areas (the Flats was probably the worst). Smith was hard and VERY bumpy. Not a good surface for beginners and it is a beginner trail. Middle and Lower Trigger had a lot of snowmaking going on, and upper Trigger was much better than I expected it to be. Everything had a really hard base. Lower Recoil had a few ice patches. The Gunsmoke side was OK. If you didn't see ski tracks in the trail than that area was really hard and skied off. Recoil, Pistol, Trigger and Tiger were the best of the day.

Groomed, Uncrowded, Sunny

Skiied 1/26, Saturday. Cold, only 4F at 9am. Most of the trails I saw had about an inch or less of powder over a very hard base. Skiing was good and was fast. Small crowd that was getting bigger as the day went on. Favorite trail was Recoil. Temp was only 12F when I left at 1230. Everyone looked like masked bandits. :^}

6" 24" Packed Powder  reported: 01/21/2013 at 3:25 AM EST by Greystoke124

Groomed, Tracked, Crowded

Skied Sunday 1/20. Best conditions I have seen all year. PP from top to bottom. Had a great time when actually able to ski. VERY crowded on Panorama lift. 5 min to ski top to bottom, then stand in line for 30 min to get on the lift. Took 3 hrs to do 6 top to bottom runs. All the runs were good. My favorite was Recoil top to bottom.

Groomed, Tracked, Skied Off, Wind-Packed, Icy Spots, Uncrowded, Windy, Sunny, Making Snow

Was at Gunstock 1/5 & 1/7. Top half of the mountain gets skied off fast. Lots of ice & hard crust. Upper Trigger was challenging, but middle and lower Trigger were all packed powder even though they are steeper. Gunsmoke and Gunpowder had icy/crust spots especially in the middle. Lower half of the mountain is fine. All packed powder. Cannonball and Pistol were good with Pistol being my pick of the day. Still making snow. Yesterday,1/7, Blundersmoke Park looked about ready to open.
1" 10" Icy Granular  reported: 12/23/2012 at 5:22 AM EST by Joshua Ochal

Groomed, Skied Off, Thin Spots, Icy Spots, Bare Spots, Uncrowded

Went yesterday and they DID have top to bottom open. There were quite a few icy spots and a few bare spots so keep your eyes open. They say experts only and I would agree. They said they are suppose to be making snow all week though :-) The beginner area was in good shape with a few inches of loose man made.
2" 20" Frozen Granular  reported: 02/02/2012 at 3:03 AM EST by Colleen

Groomed, Skied Off, Bullet-Proof, Thin Spots, Uncrowded, Calm

Great evening skiing! Uncrowded, awesome conditions, considering the weather is crazy! Many school kids, but very respectful. Thin spots here and there, but snow making continues and they are doing a great job!! Let's pray for some real stuff!!!!
5" 24" Packed Powder  reported: 01/23/2012 at 3:03 AM EST by Greystoke124

Skied Off, Bullet-Proof, Icy Spots, Crowded, Calm, Sunny, Making Snow

Packed powder over a really hard base. Bottom of the mountain was better than the top. Any steep areas quickly changed to ice as the snow got scraped off. Almost impossible to do any carving because the edges would break loose on the ice, once they cut through the powder. Still nice to get back up there. the recent natural snow they have gotten has helped a lot.
0" 24" Hard Pack  reported: 01/05/2012 at 3:26 AM EST by Greystoke124

Skied Off, Refrozen, Bullet-Proof, Icy Spots, Uncrowded, Windy, Sunny, Flat Light, Making Snow

Some packed powder over a hard base. Some steep areas were crust/ice either because the PP was skied off or it had blown off. Best way down from the top was Upper Gunsmoke, Gunpowder, Shotgun, Lower Gunsmoke to Musket and back to the Panorama Lift. Upper Trigger was icy. Did not see anyone going down Middle Trigger. Most were using Derringer back to Smith.
0" 6" Packed Powder  reported: 01/04/2012 at 1:22 PM EST by Joe Weeks`

Groomed, Uncrowded, Making Snow

Most trails are open! I would say 90 percent is man made snow. The snow making continues every day as it is very cold!!! The snow is perfect though. The best man made snow I have ridden yet! More trails should open this weekend. Fun riding and not over crowded at all
0" 12" Wet Packed Snow  reported: 12/22/2011 at 2:41 AM EST by Greystoke124

Groomed, Wet, Uncrowded, Rainy, Flat Light

Not much open, but what was open was mostly in good shape. Smith was in great shape and taking Exit 21 over to the Pistol lift was good also. Pistol was the only trail I didn't care for as it is covered with frozen crust balls making it like skiing on marbles. Going to the right off the Pistol lift and going down Shotgun was fun. Sprinkling off and on even though it was only 27 degrees. Steady rain started at about 1 pm and that was the end of the day for me. For what they have opened it was worth $25. Great to be back on skis again!
