0" 8" Frozen Granular  reported: 01/03/2015 at 6:09 AM EST by Anonymous

Groomed, Thin Spots, Icy Spots, Rocky Spots, Bare Spots, Uncrowded, Sunny

Went out New Years Day and day after. For minimal slope availability it wasn't too bad. Wasn't crowded at all. Snow was chunky granular which is what you get at Blue Knob. Lodge and Lifts are getting older by the year with no signs of any improvements. Worst part, minimal snowmaking on some cold days. I would think they would be making as much snow as possible to get a deep base and open as many slopes as they could, but they only had a couple areas blowing. The snowmaking had been much better in the recent past but really seems to be slipping last year and now this year too. If I didn't have a season pass I wouldn't spend the money until they get more trails open. I won't buy a pass next year.

Groomed, Icy Spots, Flat Light

Typical Blue Knob day....windy at the top, calm at the bottom. Jack Rabbit and Stembogen are open. Skied Stembogen which was not in the greatest shape. Hard to ski and I'm an advanced level skier. Expressway was great as was High Hopes. Lines were moderate. Wait time was about 10 minutes. Food in the lodge hit the spot. Recommend the cheese fries :)

Groomed, Tracked, Untracked, Refrozen, Icy Spots, Rocky Spots, Windy

Decent snowfall 2 days prior made for some good conditions. Blue Knob staff continues to add to the snow accumulation with snow guns. Conditions are starting to shape up and the snow coverage is good. Crowds were manageable and the snow was in good shape. Still need help from the weather to get the remaining trails open but things are looking good.

Groomed, Skied Off, Wind-Packed, Icy Spots, Uncrowded, Sunny, Making Snow

Skied BK on Sunday. Beautiful day to be on the mountain! Sunny, great temps for skiing, not very crowded, and most of all not windy! Conditions were typical hard pack. Skiing was nice on the slopes that were open with the exception of Deer Run.....too icy. Blowing snow on Jack Rabbit and High Hopes. Nothing happening with Stembogen.....might be awhile before that slopes opens. Always enjoy the long runs at The Knob.
