Perfect Day 01/06/2014 by: Kristen Had a perfect thaw out day at Shawnee Peak. It was great to finally get out an enjoy the amazing snow. The temps actually rose about 10 degrees and the snow was pack and groomed out nicely. Plenty of snow on those usually "snow needy" trails. Fun day and the crowd was missing!

Family friendly! 01/04/2012 by: Liz Learned how to ski for the first time at Shawnee! Started on the bunny slopes and by the end of the season was working on my first black diamonds. Unpretentious, felt very comfortable, fun events and family friendly.

Pre Christmas Fun! 12/19/2011 by: Kristen Took advantage of a low snow December to try something new. Took a snowboarding lesson at Shawnee Peak on Saturday. Really fun. Although my butt is a bit bruised, The one bunny slope they had open was well covered. Not a huge crowd, just other folks learning to ski and ride. Fun day over all. Great season so far to try something new!

Good and Getting Better 11/08/2010 by: Anonymous I have always enjoyed shawnee for two reasons great terrain and few crowds. Add to that the night skiing option and good value and it's great. If not fully open the terrain is limited but when 100% open there is somethign for everyone. Glades and narrow twisty new england style traditional trails. As well as your typical groomers. The slated area a the top is great when well covered lots of small jumps and drops. And it has that above the tree line feel to it. My biggest problem with shawnee has always been that the lifts are really slow. That is great to keep the slopes open and not over crowded like the big resorts high speed quads do. Good news is they got a new lift with the magic carpet loading sysytem, so I am relly excited about headng up to shawnee this winter.

Family Ski Freindly 02/27/2010 by: Mike Nice mountain for families with young kids. My son and daughter loved Shawnee. They are 7 and 9 and have been skiing for 5 and 7 year respectively and can handle the entire mountain. Great for their confidence and skill building. We will return!

Nice challenge for lower coin 11/13/2009 by: Jud Lot of room to play around for a day. Usually nicely groomed. Snowmaking isn't as great as some of the bigger mountains, but great after fresh snowfall. Good beginner courses but also some challenging blacks for the more advanced.

Great night sking 11/02/2009 by: aj One of the last places in Maine to offer night sking, Shawnee Peak offers most 9-5'rs a chance to hit the slopes before hitting their pillow. If last season was any indication of how 2010 snow will be, Shawnee peak is a must visit

Good Times 02/12/2009 by: Anonymous Good conditions. Used to skiing at larger areas but it kept me happy. Well lit night skiing a plus. Also cheap night skiing rates. Great email deals. Food and beverage was good nice bar and restaraunt at base you can see the action on the hill from inside. Also for a small area it has a nice park with some nice features.

Cold but worth it! 01/19/2009 by: Kristen Carey Skiied Saturday 1/17/09. Sun was out but it as -13 at the base of the chair and zero at the top. The cold temps scared folks away much to my delight! The snow was great. Great coverage, hardly any ice. Snow was dry as a bone. You can tell that they are making snow every chance they have.

Great value 01/12/2009 by: Anonymous Skied on Saturday night 1-10. Although the temps were in the teens, the trails for the most parts were well groomed with just a few areas of ice. With my "AAA" card, we got tickets for $20. I don't know anywhere else you can ski for 6 hours for this price. No lines, cheap prices, and great conditions will have me returning again and again!

Skiing at Shawnee Peak as of 1-11-09 01/11/2009 by: Sven Cole Just got done a great powder day over at Shawnee Peak with my wife and two daughters (5 and 9)- it was fantastic. We started over on the quad and did a couple runs with everyone before the kids went in to enjoy some hot chocolate while my wife and I hit a few runs off the top, including a run down the east side. The snow was FANTASTIC! All the lift attendants and ticket checkers are nice and actually talk to you, same with the staff in the base lodge. Great terrain, fun mountain- and for me- good light. Highly recommend it, you'll be happy. Plus check out their ticket deals on line, they have things like car load day or something like that, bring a bunch of people and it is supper cheap.

Shawnee = FUN 11/28/2008 by: Anonymous Loved this resort; one of my favorites on the east coast. This mountain is on a completely different level of skiing/snowboarding because of both the quality of its runs, the amount of natural snow that they get, the non-icy conditions, and the height of the mountain. The runs are pretty much all a blast (stay away from the Tycoon black diamond, though-it was always really icy and gross when we went for some reason). I feel like the intermediates are fun for advanced/intermediate skiers, but that they are also pretty fun for non-beginners who are making their way to feeling comfortable with their skills. This was a really FUN mountain!

Great Mountain 11/16/2007 by: Anonymous This is a great smaller mountain in southern Maine. They have a decent amount of terrain for all skiers. They usually have good snow too. It is only an hour from Portland which is nice, plus they have night skiing which is always a great bonus!

something for everyone! 02/27/2007 by: alice Something for everyone at this area. The Lil Pine beginner carpet, the Rabbit Run double chair and the Pine Quad chair provide ample green runs of longer than usual length amuse the grommets and beginners from these lifts. The Pine Tree quad chair gives access to a lower intermediate boulevard run and also grommet terrain park. One can also access the lower half of the Monster Terrain Park and Pipe from this chair. The Summit triple chair takes you to the top, or for the conservative, it has a drop off spot just before the steepest terrain at the summit. From the Summit triple, access the trails to the east and enjoy a longer green run, some challengiing intermediate trails and the black diamond trails. The backside will bring you down to the Sunnyside triple chair for less crowded, tree lined trails. This well designed area separates the beginner from the intermediate and expert terrain.

Doing well with what they've got! 01/22/2007 by: Kristen Carey It has been a tough natural snow year but the trails they had open were well covered. It was a bit icy in spots but there was always some snow to grip around those spots. Another week of cold and they will really be cooking.

Great learn to ski/snowboard program 12/28/2006 by: Anonymous They had a learn to ski/snowboard program on Friday Sept 22nd. It was free for a lesson/rentals and limited lift ticket. The program was well run from start to finish, staff were so incredibly friendly. This is a great program and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to learn to ski or snowboard.
