Pretty Rad 12/19/2013 by: Anonymous Killer terrain, mobs of rippers come out of the woodwork and slash this place to bits on pow days

Stretch yourself 10/08/2012 by: Scott Munson Having skied 47 resorts, people always ask for a favorite. There is no such thing, but in the Tahoe region, you can't really beat Kirkwood if you want a challenge. Great steeps, good pacing in the trees, chutes in California no less and even a nice lip to go off on the back side. Snow is great and usually deep and while prices aren't the cheapest, the value is great. See you on the slopes.

marketing whitewash 12/09/2009 by: Anonymous Have been skiing here for 35 years (almost from opening) and it gets worse every year; they are milking my favorite mt dry. Such a travesty to see all the hype and then the reality. Today's 12/8/09 video showed all these fabulous pow turns. They had to hike to an unopened area and then WATCH out for rocks & bushes! Chair 11 was open for one run then I got stuck for over ten minutes at 10 degrees and very windy-brrr. When I asked Patrol Director for an explanation he made snide remark and then management refused to give anyone a free hot cocoa (what, .50 cents worth of goodwill???) You could hear talk of "typical KIRKWOOD STYLE" all over the resort. It's so sad. Incredible terrain & snow- being raped by greed & sloth

Great Terrain 04/18/2008 by: Anonymous Kirkwood is a great area, and off the beaten path, so the lines are usually short. The beginner area is separate. The variety of terrain is very good, ranging from the expert (beyond me) to some very steep groomed trails (marked black - some runs at Whistler were that steep and marked blue). There are also some nice ravine trails like the Ditch of Doom (unmarked) that is near Squirrel Run. The big lift on the back side was not available while I was there - very disappointing. However, I enjoyed the variety and challenges that were open. The downsides are that there are no long intermediate runs, and that there are not enough express lift chairs - the regular triples are set pretty fast, so getting on and off can be an adventure. There are only two express chairs - one to beginner terrain, and one to advanced terrain. Anyway, for good terrain - on a non-holiday weekend, this is a very nice resort - and spectacular beauty.

Great all round mountain 12/14/2007 by: Rahul Among the best in Tahoe.. Great mountain layout, I took my girlfriend here to learn.. Great snow, and something for everyone.. Excellent expert terrain inbounds... cliffs, steeps.. you name it, the woods got it. Its very boarder friendly though, if thats a concern to any skiers out there.. It gets more boarders than most other tahoe resorts (except for northstar)

Laid back attitude, great mountain 01/17/2007 by: Anonymous Even though there wasn't a lot of snow, the base was sufficient to deliver many fun runs for our two days at Kirkwood, Jan. 7 & 8th. All personnel we encountered were friendly and helpful. Not nearly the crowds as you may find at Heavenly or Sierra, and fewer "yahoo" snowboarders (like so many of the rude ones at Sierra). Our only dissatisfaction was limited restaurant facilities, especially on Sunday, and the ONE pub that was open Sunday evening closed by 8PM. So not much social life once the mountain closed, but the mellow respectful environment while skiing was great.
