Limited but fantastic! 01/21/2014 by: Kristen It has been a tough couple of weeks for our ski areas here in Maine. With a January Thaw hitting us after a polar vortex, things couldn't be bleaker BUT, although they only had a couple trails open, the grooming was amazing and the snow was carve-able and dreamy. It was worth a couple hours for sure.

Excellent place for beginners! 03/11/2012 by: Anthony Patenaude My wife and I went to Black Mountain for our first time snowboarding adventure. The staff at the rental shop and novice lift were extremely helpful with tips to try and help us. The novice area was big enough to get a good ride but small enough to learn on. Our overall experience makes us want to go again. Such a nice place!

Priced right for young families! 02/27/2012 by: Anonymous With free season passes for K-2 children, the price to ski can't be beat. Affordable adult season passes (bought early) make the value worthwhile. We ski weekends and vacation times only and have found lift lines to be minimal, if at all. Vertical drop from top provides a good challenge, yet notive and beginner trails are just right for the younger ones.

Nordic Friendly - Not Familiy Friendly 02/01/2012 by: Anonymous Black Mountain of Maine - Nordic friendly....not Family friendly. As first time season ticket holders, my family has been disappointed. It appears that their primary focus is on the Nordic events. Agree that the lodge is nice, but with nordic events scheduled every weekend, it is just too crowded. The primary area of the lodge is overrun with Nordic skiers. Sprawled out on the floor and with gear all over the place. And with no changing facilities, they often strip down to their underwear right out in the open. Alpine skiers are relegated to the small bar area on the second floor - not the best place for families with young children. Have seen bathroom lines 15 - 20 people deep as the nordic racers need to release their pre-race nerves. And btw, the air dryers in the rest rooms are meant for drying hands...not warming up your nordic boots. All in all, a disappointment for my family.

Love this mountain 03/04/2010 by: larry rogers We have 6 young children and have skied here 4 times this season. The beginners area is the best we've seen. Close to the lodge with a chair lift and varied terrain. the mountain is big - lots of nice runs from the top & challenging for all skill levels. The service is as good as it gets!!! The lodge is great for large families - very spacious and comfortable. Check it out
