Awesome intimate mountain! Can't wait to go back!

You won't get the "big mountain" experience here, but you will get a FULL day of nice skiing. I skied on a Sunday in January and there was only a lift line twice. The longest wait was four minutes. The employees were fantastic. Very polite and they even brushed the snow off the chair lift before we sat down. They came out of the hut at the top to say good morning. I do not have one complaint. I would rather ski up and down all day long, instead of riding a long chair (s) to the top of a big mountain, ski down, only to wait in line for a half hour. The conditions were great. We stayed on the easy and intermediate trails all day.

A little something for everyone

Right off the major highway (like 100 feet from). Under two hours from Boston. Diverse terrain. They groom the easy runs extremely well and leave the harder stuff untouched. There is some nice pitch on the harder runs and some glades. It's a Wachusett on steroids or a deflated Magic Mountain, unfortunately the very slow lift partially ruins the party. Luckily the lift lines are non-existent. Other negative is the almost constant highway noise in the background. Ticket prices are on the cheaper side so willing to put up with the little annoyances. Great place for families.

Great place for kids of all ages!

Evan Dybvig, the owner of Whaleback, the does an AWESOME job for the kids. He comes through on his promise to be open even when Mother Nature doesn't cooperate. His weekend rail jams are a blast and the kids love them. Hope he stays in business and continues to carve out a niche for himself for many years to come!
