More About Crested Butte Nordic Center

About

CBMR offers great skiing in gorgeous mountain setting. The ski area is best known for it's extreme skiing, but the mountain offers plenty of intermediate and beginning terrain. If you've never been here, you're missing out on one of the best kept secrets in the West.

We offer some of Colorado's best Nordic skiing, all right from the edge of Crested Butte. Stay in town and walk to the Nordic Center, our various trailheads, restaurants and shops. The kids can ride the free bus to the mountain for downhill fun, while you enjoy the quiet and serenity of our pristine Nordic world.

Ski out to our trailside yurt for lunch, or enjoy a moonlight "desert at the yurt" tour. Another great option is to explore our beautiful backcountry with our experienced guides, or ski into the Gothic hut for an overnight.

We also offer XC lessons, snowshoeing, ice skating, and sledding for the kids. The possibilities are endless; please visit us at cbnordic.org for all the details.

Ski Lessons

We have excellent instructors including former Olympians. So whether you are a never-ever or an experienced racer, we have instructors that will get you started on the right foot or take you to the next level.

Ski Racing Programs

We offer our local Nordic race series as well as the well known Aley Loop Nordic Marathon. New for this year is a 12 hour race/lap format; solo, teams, and co-ed. And if you want to go big, don't forget the Super Tour or the Elk Mountain Grand Traverse, the annual race from Crested Butte to Aspen.

Improvements This Season

Our new trailside warming yurt is a perfect destination for the whole family. Join us for a moonlight dinner or try to make it out for Sunday brunch at the yurt. The yurt is located out on our Magic Meadows trail system, an easy ski leading to some of our best terrain and trails.

Dining

With a zillion great restaurants in town and on the mountain, how can you go wrong? From simple and affordable to four star, there's plenty to chose from, all the variety one could ask for, and something to fit everyone's pocketbook.

Bars and Nightlife

If we have a weak area, this may be it. We have a couple clubs that offer music and you'll be sure to find some local color, but most of us are trying to catch up on sleep to enjoy another day of powder or track skiing.

Lodging, Hotels, and Condos

Some great options here especially in town. My choices are the Elk Mountain Lodge, the Old Town Inn, or the Cristiana Guesthaus.

Other Recreation Nearby

Crested Butte Mountain Resort, the Irwin lodge for snowcat skiing, millions of acres of wilderness areas
