About Sugar Bowl Ski
From heart-pounding chutes and corduroy cruisers, to gentle rollers and incredible terrain parks, whatever you’re into, you’ll find plenty of it at Sugar Bowl. If it’s fresh powder all day long then we have you covered, with an average snowfall of 500 inches per year, Donner Summit is your place for fun. Sugar Bowl offers over 1500 skiable acres including 17% beginner, 45% intermediate, and 38% advanced.
Opened in 1939, Mt. Disney is the site of the first chairlift and gondola in the country. We also built a 20,000 square foot Main Lodge at the base of Mt Judah. The resort has undergone a 10 year, 50 million dollar redevelopment that includes five high-speed quads serving four different mountain peaks so you can spend more time carving lines, and less time waiting in them.
New this year, we expand our terrain park and build a season-long skier-cross and boarder-X training course on the Tunnel 41 run.

What's New This Season at Sugar Bowl Ski
New in 09/10, the Summit Chair will whisk skiers and riders to the Judah Bowl and points beyond, providing lift-served access to this previous hike-to terrain. The new lift will mean improved sidecountry access, and improved skier compaction in the Judah Bowl itself, equating to improved base conditions for more consistent skiing, more often.
Also new this season...with improved sidecountry access comes the need for educational backcountry programs. Alpine Skills International, The Backcountry and Sugar Bowl have teamed up to launch the Backountry Adventure Center, offering snow safety courses, a new beacon basin and of course professionally guided powder pursuits in and out of Sugar Bowl.
Finally, the Mountain Sports Learning Center has been converted into a kid-friendly learning center known as The Den, home to Sugar Bears, Powder Cubs and Black Bear Adventures.
Sugar Bowl celebrates 70 years in 09/10, having served up authentic alpine adventures since 1939.
