Deep in the San Juans, Durango Mountain Resort's trademark benched, rolling terrain creates a winter playground for any level of skier and snowboarder. With 1200 acres, 85 trails and 2000+ vertical, Purgatory Mountain boasts steep shots on the front side, tree shots on the back side, intermediate terrain in the middle and the dedicated Columbine learning area for first timers.

What's New This Season at Purgatory at Durango
In headline news for 2009-2010, Purgatory will unveil 125 acres of new, experts-only terrain, slated to open on December 20. The Legends Expansion increases Purgatory’s expert terrain by 30 percent and extends the resort’s western boundary to include 1,200 additional vertical feet of steep tree-skiing. The project marks the first major expansion of terrain at Purgatory since the 1980s and expands our total skiable acreage by 10 percent to 1,325 acres.
In December 2008, Durango Mountain Resort celebrated the grand opening of the new Purgatory Lodge. This luxury ski-in/ski-out property is the anchor of the new Purgatory Village, featuring upgraded skier services and a new Purgy’s Day Lodge. Purgatory Lodge units range in size from 2 bedrooms to 4 bedrooms. Guests of Purgatory Lodge enjoy access to our heated outdoor pool and spa, fitness center, and Durango Mountain Club.
