The Trapp family first started welcoming guests to their 27-room lodge in the summer of 1950. Thirty-three years later the family opened its doors to a new 93-room resort with the same country charm as the original lodge. The Lodge continues to be owned and operated by the Trapp family, the inspiration for the classic musical and movie "The Sound of Music." Located on the second floor of the new expansion. Trapp Family Lodge is a 2,400 acre natural playground offering year-round recreational activities. If you love fine dining and fine wines, you've come to the right place. Our chef is always creating delicious dinners with Vermont local produce. With our great wine list, we have regular wine tastings for our guests. For those looking for something lighter, our deli or the pasture cabin during the cross country ski season offers great fare for those in the middle of activities. And don't miss our yummy bakery. With our great trail system, which we're constantly expanding and improving, we have one of the best cross-country ski centers in the country. We provide 100 kilometers of trails with terrain suitable for every level of Nordic skier or snowshoer. In warmer months, you can walk or hike to enjoy the solitude of the trails that wind their way through meadows and woodlands. Our newest addition to our outdoor recreation are mountain bike trails. And of course, you can rent all the equipment you need at our sports center. We have four clay tennis courts, three swimming pools (one indoor) and a great croquet pitch. If you are looking for something more relaxing, we have yoga and massage therapy in our Fitness Center. We also have daily activities for adults and kids, include baking class, painting, music, dance and jewelry. Make sure you check out our weekly schedule.
