Schweitzer Mountain Resort rating reviews Best tree skiing, Lots of snow
12/08/2012 by: Anonymous

If you're into this sport, you probably know that conditions can make or break your day and you can't really blame the weather on the mountain. Therefore, you can disregard the message below. Obviously that rider just happened to hit the mountain on a few cloudy days. If you frequent the mountain often, or if you happen to hit it on the majority of good days, you know just how good this mountain really is. Even on less than stellar days, you can hide out from the bad conditions in the trees. This mountain has the best tree skiing I've ever seen. It really doubles the amount of terrain when you compare to other mountains where you can only ski the designated run because the trees are too tight. Also, the other review didn't mention that even if the Tbar is closed, it's only a 10 minute hike to reach ALL of that terrain that they thought was "closed". Be smart and check the conditions before you go, but even on a bad day you're going to have a good time here.

Schweitzer Mountain Resort rating reviews Schweitzer is for snow skiers and riders!
10/21/2008 by: Ken Barrett

With an add'l 3000 acres of epic selkirk mountain powder terrain available for the powder loving skier or boarder, accessed from the summit by selkirk Powder Company in an exclusive arrrangement with Schweitzer, you have to consider this 6000 acre skier and riders paradise a gem waiting to be discovered by the lover of winter and all it gives us. Located 30 miles shy of the wettest spot in the US Rocky Mountains we're bound to get some weather and boy do we get it and like it. (insider tip: invest in goretex, a couple pr of googles and be ready to rip, just put your eyes in your boots and ski on) When you put all the nuts into the basket: 2900 inbounds, 3000+ cat-skiing/OB, virtually no lift lines and one of the best/safest locations for powder skiing in the lower 48, SMR stacks up with the best resorts in the west, just less "fluff". Yep we get a little wet out here skiing. That's why we live here, work here and stay here.

Schweitzer Mountain Resort rating reviews Schwhite OUT
03/16/2007 by: Anonymous

We skied at Schweitzer several times and they can spend and improve until their pockets are empty but they will NEVER get rid of the horrid, frequent and dangerous white out cloud conditions that prevail atop the front bowl.

Schweitzer also does not disclose to new guest that during the weekdays about half the mountain is closed.
Monday through Wednesday ....no access to T-Bar area CLOSED.
Monday through Friday... NO access to Sunnyside ---Chair CLOSED.

It will take some unnatural act of nature to bring Schweitzer up to the pipe dream of "destination resort".

Once stung …twice shy.

C.J.
