Went to check out Plattekill for the first time Friday, Jan 25 with the buy one get one coupons out of the save around book. Was very impressed by the steepness and overall difficulty of the mountain. With the limited open terrain I would not recommend this mountain to beginners. I would recommend this mountain to thrill seekers that like steep challenging terrain. I had a good time there and hope to go back sometime soon. I will be waiting for more snow as the trail count was 16 which felt more like 8. Staff was friendly and the place was uncrowded with absolutely no lift lines.

This mountain is great. Its a bit farther than the other resorts like Bellayre and Hunter but that keeps the amount of people cluttering the slopes down. The conditions are usually ideal as they blow all day and are only open Friday, Saturday and Sunday. You can get $15 tix for Friday and $24 tix for Sunday at the shop. The woods are great as well as the staff. Everyone is friendly and helpful. One of the best parts is the food. They have great food at cheaper prices than you will find at a fast food rest. Overall I would chose this mountain ontop of any other NY or VT mountain.

We had a blast this weekend. The kids loved the new terrain park. The skiers Bistro, definitely have the portabella sandwich. The rates are great. $50 lift tickets on a Holiday Wknd. WOW! We skied and skied, no lines. It is like having your own resort.

I'm a season ticketholder @ Plattekill -- when there's natural snow (like last Sunday), their is no finer resort in that neck of NYS (I make occasional forays to Belleayre, Hunter or Windham when conditions require). Terrain is every bit as good as their neighbors in Ulster and Greene counties, but on a small, manageable scale. lift tickets, rental equipment and food prices are all very reasonable. The lifts are old and slow, but given the uncrowded scene, you'll get just as much total vertical as at the bigger, more modern resorts. Classic ski lodge bar with occasional live entertainment, great terrain -- they've got it all (except on-mountain lodging).
