Great vibe and adventure skiing
Posted on 12/08/2012 by: John

Great Divide is a ski bum's hill. Dollar for dollar, turn for turn, beer for beer, GD is the best value in skiing…maybe in all the U.S.

You won't find ball-shriveling steeps, waist-deep pow, or miles of corduroy. What you will find is deceptively sprawling terrain where nothing is off-limits. If you can ski it, you can ski it. Aren't sure if the conditions are worth the price of a full-day pass? No problem. You can buy hour-long lift passes at GD.

If you baby your boards and fear P-Tex gouges, dinged edges and the occasional core shot, then GD isn't for you. The best skiing is adventure skiing, and you're likely to hit rocks from time to time. Most of the GD die-hards are apt to spend an hour touching up their bases at home after a big day.

GD takes some getting used to if you're used to skiing mountains that get 300 inches of snow, but once you get the vibe of the mountain, it's a great place to ski...as long as you aren't afraid to get your boards dirty.
