This is the best place within 2 hours of driving from Chicago City. Decent place to hone your skills, and the pricing is better than other near resorts that are smaller but more expensive.

It isn't out west, and it isn't even granite peak but I would rate it equal with Cascade. They have high speed lifts and pretty decent conditions. Stats wouldn't say that it should be that great, but for an hour and a half drive from Chicago, I would do it again. Decent warm up for out west.

Alpine is a great hometown hill, they do an awesome job in making sure you have a fun time. The lift operators make sure you get on when you need to keep your runs going strong. The grooming crew is outstanding at making sure the hills are fun to ride. The new outdoor atmosphere is nice as well with heaters and great views of the mountain.

2/27/08 The skiing/boarding was at it's best last nite. The racers are finished for the year and the lifts were easy on ski right off. The snow was absolutely PERFECT, the tops of the big hills were well covered and the Terrain park is still awesome as well. Keep up the great work! Hopefully for another few weeks???
