Great Morning, not so great afternoon. 01/23/2012 by: Anonymous The day started out great but conditions were pretty icy by afternoon. Our waitress in the pub was super friendly and funny and they were having prize giveaways, which added to our enjoyment. Menu could use some work - nachos were average and buffalo tenders were not even fully cooked. We couldn't understand why the kitchen closes at 4:30 when the lift operates until 4:00. Definitely felt rushed out of there. Also, as always, Gunstock has to chill out on their bag policy!!! We are paying a lot of money to enjoy our day, give me a minute to put my bag down before you tell me not to leave it there!!

Great place 01/18/2011 by: Sara Great place, terrain that's not too intimidating, but has some challenge. Glades are great when they're open (not too often though). Lots of flat spots on the mountain though, those aren't fun.

My favorite day trip place 11/28/2010 by: Sara Lift lines are practically non-existent, which I LOVE! there's some semi-challenging trails and a couple glade areas I like. Overall, a nice place to go to.

Sat 12/12 at Gunstock ! 12/15/2009 by: Anonymous 2nd day open at Gunstock was decent, snow was nicely groomed. The Ramrod Quad and the new Penny Pitou Silver Medal Quad was open. The Penny Pitou run is a nice addition for beginners, 2 ways to come down, offering enough of a challenge to make it interesting and enjoyable for those new to skiing. NIce day had by all ! Look forward to lots of great skiing at Gunstock. If you haven't gone, GO, the view of Winnepesaukee alone is worth it !

Small Family Mountain 03/11/2009 by: Anonymous This was my first time skiing at Gunstock...and I must admit this mountain offered a lot more terrain that what I originally expected. I would recommend this mountain to family that wants to just let their kids safely roam the mountain...all trails lead to the main base lodge.

Cool ski area! 02/23/2009 by: Anonymous The skiing yesterday was outstanding. Packed powder; Freshly groomed slopes and trails, sunny day - a perfect ski day all the way around. Nice variety of trails - so, great for my son and his friend who are still at varying skill levels. I haven't skied Gunstock for many years and I was really impressed at the customer service of this nice family friendly mountain. The Gunstock staff is super friendly, they handled everything quickly and moved the lines along fast - everything from the parking lot attendants, to the rental staff, to the lift attendants. So, even though there was a big crowd on Saturday, we managed to get in a great day of skiing!

Gunstock Mountain 1/05/09 01/07/2009 by: Anonymous The skiing was as good as you will get with the snow we have. They must be blowing at every opportunity. We saw one icy spot the entire day, and there was very little granular snow. Plenty of powder. The best run of the day was Gunsmoke. Black diamond lovers may want to wait, because a lot of blacks were closed. The grooming was great, as well as everpresent. The only complaint was that the Powder Keg restaurant which has always been decent food at decent prices has revamped the menu, and now serves great food at fairly expensive prices ($9.75 for a 1/3 lb. bacon-cheddar BBQ burger? $6.50 for chowder?) Other than that one detail, this was the place to go!

nice place 01/06/2008 by: Anonymous Very nice place with amazing view on the Lake, so do not forget to bring your camera and you will take plenty of pictures for sure. Trails are groomed pretty well but I would not recommend this place for first timers because all the trails and blue and black. They have only one or two green trails so make sure you carefully research trail map and check if they open. Food was so so (but they all have the same). Also I would advise to look at their site since they have offers like "buy a ticket get second free". If you need to rent equipment, you can find pretty good local rental stores on you way (or ask locals) that will save you another 15-20$ per person Overall we really enjoyed this place especially having this "buy a ticket get second free" ;) They also have night skiing but it was pretty cold last season so we did not go there, but I heard from locals that it is worth trying too...

good family resort, bargain specials and reasonable prices 12/23/2007 by: skimama Gunstock Ski Area, something for everyone if you have various level skiers in your family. Our 5 y.o. was happy after a day at BaseCamp III on Dec.23. He learns best through play, his instructor made sure his lesson times were fun! While he was there, the rest of us, beg, int., adv., enjoyed the mountain from top to bottom. There are enough varied trails here to keep everyone busy! The groomers here keep things top notch, coming out when needed, even during the day. BE SURE to check out the Mountain Magic, Mountain Adventure and Mountain Excitement deals. We paid for 2 days of lifts & lessons, then we got a card entitling us a discount of 50% on lift tickets for the rest of the season! Food in the Main Lodge is very good. Dining area is too messy with gear and bags. Main dining hall should be off limits to gear storage. Easy access to Rts. 93 and 95 make skiing Gunstock a frequent event for us! Plentiful lodging in area for all budgets.

Pretty good for the first week open 12/12/2007 by: Joan Only a couple trails open on Saturday, but the snow was good the crowds were light and we had a great time. A little bit of corn snow at the top. I could hear the cats working most of the day on other trails so there should be more skiing to come very soon!!

Night Skiers/Riders Delight 11/23/2007 by: Adam Montrose If you love night skiing/riding then check out Gunstock in Gilford, NH. last year they kicked off the promo, "Gunstock Rocks Saturday Nights". For under $30 you can ski/ride all night with free rentals. Personally for me, this is awesome. I'm trying to learn how to snowboard, so I'll bring my skis with me, rent a snowboard (for free), practice snowboarding then ski for the rest of the night. Perfect. Saturday Nights was so successful last season that Gusntock has decided to do it again this year! And since it was a big success, they'll be doing it on Wednesday nights also! They also have other activities such as bon-fires, live music, skiing films, and much more. Check it out.

Always a fun mountain! 11/16/2007 by: Anonymous We usually ski Gunstock at least a couple of times a year, and always have a great time. The views of Lake Winnipesaukee are incredible, and they always do a great job grooming. We even saw a family of bear cubs from the lift last spring, and had a porcupine cross one of the trails in front of us when we were skiing down!

Idol Rental Department 02/02/2007 by: Adam Montrose When we went to "Saturday Night Rocks" the first time, the two gentlemen working the rental department were very polite and helpful. They had us in and out of there very fast and answered every question we asked the best they could. I honestly wish that the bigger mountains in New England had a rental department like Gunstocks.

Great instructors! 01/26/2007 by: Alice I recently went with my 13 year old son to Gunstock for a couple of days. We were both transitioning to shaped skis after not having skied for two or three years. The instructors were awesome! The first day the instructor gave us two hours of instruction for the price of one. He assessed our abilities and tailored his lesson to fit each of our specific needs. The next day we had a wonderful lady give us our lesson and , again, we came away much more confident skiers. I suggest taking the afternoon lesson times as you might get lucky like we did and end up with private or semi-private lessons for the cost of a group lesson!!! Prices are reasonable, after a two lesson package deal we will receive 1/2 price lift tickets anytime the remainder of the season, at this resort. Hurrah!
