|Winter Trails Day at Smugglers' Notch Resort.
This annual celebration of snowshoeing and cross country skiing is free for novices and nationally sponsored by the Snow Sports Industries of America to encourage newcomers to these winter sports. Pre-registration has been available online. Smugglers' Nordic Center will offer short instructional sessions from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm for first time snowshoers; please note that cross country ski sessions will not be available on this day due to current conditions. Snowshoe rentals and trail access for first timers are free.
|Extreme Skiing Challenge
The Smugglers' Notch Ski and Snowboard Club hosts this fun event — an opportunity for junior and adult freeskiers to show their stuff on some of the most difficult terrain Smugglers' Notch has to offer! The course is planned for the Madonna headwall, an ungroomed steep with a double fall line descent filled with cliffs, bumps, trees, chutes, and stumps. Competitors will be judged on line, control, fluidity, technique, and style.
The Extreme Skiing Challenge is IFSA (Juniors 18 yrs old & under) and FWQ2* (19 yrs old +) sanctioned allowing Eastern skiers to garner ranking and seeding points in these competitive series. NEW this year, the Extreme Skiing Challenge is part of the 6-stop Ski The East Freeride Tour. The field will be capped at 100 competitors.
Costs/Fees: $45 entry fee (includes t-shirt) and $39 lift ticket available.
