FLORIDA snowboarders! 12/30/2013 by: Jason & Nikki Peres This was my first time at Holiday Valley, but my wife has been here a few times before to ski, being that she grew up on Grand Island, New York. For starters, everyone I came in contact with was very hospitable and friendly, from lift pass employees, the employees who signed my wife up for her snowboard lesson to the ski patrol who asked me if I needed some help when I was trying to find my way around the slopes. Everything seemed well taken care of, from the slopes to the lodges and the locker room area. All the runs I did were fun from the greens to the blacks. We boarded for two days, and had a blast! We'll be back for sure next year.

Great for families at night! 03/12/2013 by: Natasha Sanborn Not crowded at nights. You have the slopes to yourself. Great shuttle between lodges for all, including tired little legs! Beginner hill has a real lift for practice, plus you don't get tired on the toe lift ( there is one of those there too). Lots of great variety for slopes. One of my favorite places to ski! Better than other taller mountains! They have great snow making ability, so don't be fooled that there isn't snow in the surrounding cities, like Buffalo. Love it at holiday. Can't wait to get back!

It's better than you would think! 01/17/2012 by: eric arthur The rails were a little slow but hey, you can't control mother nature. Other than that, had a blast. The snow was pretty good with only a few spots of ice. I wish that the jumps were up when I was there, but I understand that it has not been the prime year to build much of anything.

Lake Effect Storm 01/05/2012 by: Anonymous Recently took my first trip 3 hrs west to Holiday Valley. With anticipation of 1-2 feet of lake effect snow, I knew I couldn't go wrong. I was pleasantly surprised by Holiday Valley and how they utilize their 750 vertical. The mountain is very spread out and uses many faces of the mountains. There are surprisingly a couple longer runs here for the vertical. Not to mention all the high speed quads that got us plenty of time on the slopes despite most runs being short. It left us seeking a fixed quad to ride just to rest up. With the amount of lifts they have, lift lines were short despite the place being very busy for a storm. What was also nice was the abundance of woods we were able to ride and the no hassles for riding closed trails in order to catch the fresh powder. Would definitely go back there for more powder.

Beautiful Easy Runs 01/04/2012 by: Anonymous Lovely ski and snowboarding resort. Long runs interspersed with more challenging runs which makes it perfect for family skiing/snowboarding together at different expertise levels. The inn at holiday valley is great for access. One of the lifts is right outside the door. Great for keeping an eye on older kids from the comfort of your own room. Good midweek family deals at the inn. Chalet food is terrible. Bring your own food.

A Great Family Ski Vacation 02/11/2011 by: Anonymous Just got back from a mid week ski vacation with the family! Had a fantastic time! Would definitely go back. The skiing was great...no lines, lots of variety, kids thought it was awesome to have moguls on a blue run! The glades were a new experience for them too! We even skied in the rain and the chairlift operators thought we were nuts..but they smiled anyway! Stayed at the Tamarck Club..which was very nice with a great eat-in kitchen and convenient to the slopes. More expensive that what we are used to..but the skiing is worth it. Would look at finding cheaper accomodation ....but the skiing is well worth the money. Thanks...we will be back next year... "The Wall" is taunting us!

Rocks on Lift Ramp 01/24/2011 by: crg listr Rocks on the chair lift off ramp. I tried to complain to customer service and I was threatened with lift ticket revocation. The arrogant belligerent attitude of the customer service manager reflects the contempt this place has for it's customers. The exposed rocks left a couple of long scratches on my new $1000 dollar rossi's. Customer service told me to go ski somewhere else, like KB or Peak and Peak if I didn't like "how we do business". I'll take his advice, but I'll just go across the village to Holimont.

Nice snow- Customer service is the WORST 01/24/2011 by: Cliff Eshbaugh Complained about exposed rocks on a lift off-loading ramp and I was treated with contempt. I was threatened with revocation of my lift ticket if I filled out a complaint form. The arrogant shaved head- johnny wanna be cop- guy in security even told me to ski somewhere else. (I'll be skiing Holimont) The miserable overweight guy in customer service office (if you want to call it that) was billigerent, rude and brash. The hostile nature of his response reflects the the contempt this place has for it customers.

Awesome Time Skiing 01/02/2011 by: Kim Haslett Holiday Valley is the best place in the East to ski with friends and family with different skiing abilities. My niece can ski black diamonds while I take the green trails and we meet back up to ride up the same chair lift. This makes for an awesome time for everyone! The other advantage is NO LONG LINES! We skied the entire park over Christmas and the trails were great! Can't wait to go again.

Excellent for so early in the season 12/15/2010 by: Pete Kraft I went on 12/14. The whole area had been getting pretty good amounts of steady lake affect snow, and temps were good for snow making. There were 5 lifts and quite a few trails open for so early in the season. Lift lines were almost non-existant, and we pretty much felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. The base was firm and everything was pretty well groomed. Lots of fresh powder, and the steady snow all day, kept the trails fresh. Smowmaking was going on everywhere which made for a few interesting moments. The best part of the day was Mardi Gras...very ridable. Its very windy at the top, but once down into the trees, it was fantastic. The only complaint we could find, was that they havne't decided yet if they will serve food at the bar. They have inyears past, but are not doing it right now. Not a big hurdle, but its nice to enjoy a cold one, and a fat burger, without having to go to two separate spots. Overall, a very satisfying exerience.

A Large Variety of Runs 02/20/2010 by: Denny Gustafson Holiday Valley is a great place for all ages. They have a wide variety of runs from difficult to easy. They have 2 high speed lifts and are in the process of adding another. Their dining area provides for taking your own food to purchasing reasonable priced meals. There is plenty of parking that is convenient. Both of my recent experiences at Holiday Valley were great.

Overall the best place 01/16/2010 by: LF Holiday Valley is the best place for skiing around the Roch / Buffalo Area. Some may want more height but I like the nice big trails, the natural beauty and friendly staff at Holiday Valley. With a choice of 3 different lodges you are sure to find a place for your stuff. Overall the best for the money.

Best place around 01/15/2010 by: Anonymous Coming from PA for the same price and only an hour further drive from Peak n Peek, Holiday Valley is definitely the best place around. More trails, longer runs, better terrain, and express lifts! It's definitely worth the extra travel time.

Better this time 01/15/2010 by: Anonymous Much better to be at Holiday Valley when there is enough snow. It tends to get icy without fresh powder. There is more snow fall in other areas closer, but not with this challenging to intermediate terrain. Still the better spot for Ohioans seeking a challenge. Downtown has a lot of restaurants. Tips up great last year. This year the micro brewery got a thumbs down on the beer and up on the food.

Took the teens 01/11/2010 by: Stina This is the third year in a row that I take the kids over a long weekend. We just love it and so many slops. With the economy being so bad they really offer nice prices on lift tickets and the prices on the hotdogs and pop at the top of Mardi Gras if unbeatable.

Great place! 01/03/2010 by: Anonymous The hills themselves are great fun! It's great fun to ski to the back lodges for a refreshment also! Plenty of space if that's what you seek! I got a Starbucks coffee while getting the skis tuned and that was great! We stayed at the Inn and the price was right but it was difficult to find a spot in the hot tub because there's only ONE!

Favorite place to ski nearby! 01/19/2009 by: Penny The prices have gone up and that doesn't make me happy. But I love this place and it is worth the extra drive past Peak N Peak. I don't usually buy the food and beverages because it's overpriced. We make tacos in the parking lot which is a lot more fun! Love the skiing and terrain parks!

Great place to ski 01/17/2009 by: Anonymous We have been skiing for years, and being from North East Ohio don't have a lot of options to ski. The distance is good, especially if you drive over stay the nigh and ski for two days. It's much bigger and challenging then what I have skiied before. Which means you don't easily get bored.

Annual Ski Bus East 01/12/2009 by: Joan Dushane We belong to the Toledo Ski Club in Toledo Ohio. We have a ski lodge in Michigan and ski Boyne and Nubs Nob. However: we all look forward to the trip east to the best conditions. The slopes are groomed and safety is always first and fun for the whole family. Our next trip will include the grandkids ages 3 and 5. Can hardly wait. After a happening day on the slopes we visit the great entertaining town of Ellicotville. So to Holiday Valley KEEP THE SNOW coming.

Nice weekend getaway 01/12/2009 by: Anonymous SKI SCHOOL is Phenomenal !!! The staff is AWESOME and the lessons are a GREAT VALUE. Skiers: watch out for out of control snowboarders. You can avoid them on the black hills only. ....The ski patrol only tells people to put down the bars...rather than control crowds who are sitting down at the top trails. Neither are beginners who go too fast and out of control reprimanded. I was nearly swiped many times. The bars at this resort are terrible and that is an understatement. :( Thank goodness Ellicottville makes up for it with a great nightlife though.

Great Skiing with a Great Ski Town 12/25/2008 by: Anonymous Holiday Valley is a great place to go for a week or just a day. It has been called the Aspen of the East. It is within a mile of the skier friendly town of Ellicottiville, NY. This quaint little town has many places to eat and great shops. The slopes range from gentle beginner trails to what is called the "WALL" a nearly vertical slope that Glen PLake skied. It is rumored that if someone falls while skiing the wall and is injured the ski patrol doesn't even have to ski to get to the person they just pick them up at the bottom since it is so steep. Holiday Valley is the place to go if you want great skiing and great food it is the premier ski resort in Western New York. It does get very crowded on weekends.

Mardi Gras at HV 03/13/2008 by: ATOMIC ANT Great Conditions, Largest area in WNY with various terrain. Unfortunately, a little crowded - tons of kids all over the place. Intermediate trails are packed - area big enough to find some solitude on some of the lesser known trails

Great Skiing 02/17/2008 by: Anonymous Holiday Valley is beautiful. The aesthetics are amazing especially the tannenbaum run. The lift lines during the week are incredible with very little to no waiting. There are high speed lifts and you spend more time on the slopes than on the lifts or in the lift lines. They have a one mile long slope for intermediate skiers that is one mile long. There are several international visitors and the resort is beautiful with several ski in ski out locations. The town of Ellicotteville is quaint and picturesque. A great place for families and couples alike.
